Overview

Description

An upgraded version of the City Select from Baby Jogger, the City Select Lux adds a few more bells and whistles to this popular stroller, but also changes some of the classic City Select features that parents love.

The Lux’s biggest bragging rights are that it converts from a single to a double stroller, or even a triple—you can add a bench seat on the back to turn it into a sit-and-stand stroller. The seats can be front facing, parent facing or sibling facing—there are more than 20 possible seat configurations, more than any other single-to-double stroller. If you’re starting with one baby but planning for more, this stroller could be a good investment.

The big advantage of the City Select Lux over other convertible strollers is its relatively compact fold, especially if you end up using it as a tandem. The seat folds in half, making it easier to get into tighter spaces, like a smaller trunk. (The seat also folds inward, so it stays clean.) Overall, the fold is 30% smaller than the most recent City Select. The materials are also upgraded over the regular City Select, with a softer, more luxurious hand feel.

The Lux has all-wheel suspension for a smoother ride, with large, lightweight, durable wheels and locking front swivels for steering control. The wheels are harder than those on the regular City Select, so you’ll still feel road vibration.

The telescoping handlebar is great for taller parents, but starts out at a height that may be uncomfortably high for the petite. A huge cargo basket under the seat is accessible from both front and back. The UV50 sun shade has a mesh peekaboo parent window with a magnetic closure.

The Lux has an all-in-one hand-operated decelerating and parking brake, so you can slow the stroller without stopping it if you are going downhill. There’s also a foot-operated parking brake below.

What parents don’t love as much: this is a heavy stroller, and the folding mechanism isn’t easy to operate. Some find the hand brake difficult to operate due to its fixed position on the side, which limits your hand position for steering.

Be aware that if you want to use this stroller as a double, a sit-and-stand, a pram or a travel system, you’ll have to purchase additional accessories. Also, extras like a cup holder and child tray need to be purchased separately.

Infant Car Seat Compatibility

Want to create your own travel system? Using an adapter (sold separately), the Baby Jogger City Select Lux stroller is compatible with most major brands of infant car seats, so you can move baby from car to stroller without waking them up.
