This luxury car seat has all the accoutrements that you expect. First off, installation is really easy. After the LATCH anchors are connected and tightened, you just push down on the tensioning system in the center and it secures the seat. It also has a European belt path to make taxi installation simple, too.

The Aton 2 exceeds the car seat safety standards from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and it has a few additional safety features. Like other luxury strollers, it has a load leg for stability. Its handle also has a side-impact protection bar that you pop out for additional safety. It is the only car seat with this feature, though we can’t be sure how much additional protection it provides.

The Aton 2 has a nice canopy with a large plastic visor. In addition to a standard infant insert, it also comes with a foam inlay that goes under the pad to hold newborns perfectly in place. For cleaning, the entire pad can be removed, but requires unthreading the harness. It’s machine washable, too.

Some parents really appreciate the unique release mechanism on the Aton 2. On most car seats, the release is on the carrier, but on the Aton 2, it’s on the base and easier for some parents to reach. And when you attach the carrier, a green square appears so you know it’s secure.

To attach the car seat to a stroller, the Aton 2 is compatible with any Cybex stroller and with other popular strollers from Baby Jogger, Uppababy and Bugaboo with the purchase of an adapter. Also, this car seat is not approved by the FAA for flying. Most families bring infants on as lap children, so they may never be an issue for you, but if you planning on flying with your child in a separate seat, this one won’t fly.

An additional base can also be purchased to install the Aton 2 in multiple vehicles.
