Part of Chicco’s popular line of infant car seats, the KeyFit 30 Zip Air is a great option for parents looking for a car seat that’s easy to install. It comes with a convenient zip-on/zip-off canopy, visor and boot, and the seat is made with a breathable 3D AirMesh backrest with airflow channels for optimal ventilation.

Like its KeyFit 30 siblings, it has a one-pull LATCH tightener, making for easy, secure base installation. The leveling foot ensures proper installation for all back seats (even sloped ones), and bubble level indicators on both sides show that it’s installed correctly. While the KeyFit 30 Zip Air is a snap to install with a base, it’s difficult to use without one, especially when trying to get the seat leveled. If you plan to use your car seat often without the base—in ride shares, for instance—you may want to check out other options.

The seat is thickly padded and lined with energy-absorbing EPS foam for side-impact protection, and it has a five-point harness with one-pull tightening. The included head and body pad can be used to make the seat snug for newborns; it switches from knit to mesh fabric for temperature control all year round. The seat cover comes off for cleaning, and this model also has an easy-to-remove washable seat pad.

Where the basic KeyFit 30 has a small canopy with no peekaboo window, the Zip Air offers both an expandable mesh window that extends the canopy to let you check on baby, plus a visor to give your little one more coverage. A zip-around boot is also included, keeping toes toasty on chilly days. Even better news: like the seat cover and pad, all of the zip-off fabric parts on this seat can be washed.

An extra car seat base is also available for easy transport in multiple vehicles.

To attach the car seat to a stroller, the KeyFit 30 Zip Air is compatible with most Chicco strollers and other popular strollers, including the list below (this list isn’t exhaustive, but includes strollers featured in the Babylist store). Non-Chicco strollers require an adapter to fit the KeyFit 30 Zip Air.
