This is one of three car seats that are part of the Chicco KeyFit line: KeyFit 30 (the basic), KeyFit 30 Zip (with fun additions that zip on and off), and this guy, the KeyFit 30 Magic.

Like the other KeyFits, the Magic features a one-pull LATCH tightener in the middle of the base, so you don’t have to struggle with tightening it on the side. Its leveling foot ensures proper installation for all back seats (even uneven ones), and it has bubble level indicators on both sides to show that it’s installed properly. However, it’s particularly difficult to use without the base, particularly to get it level. The seat is thickly padded and lined with energy absorbing foam for side impact protection.

The original KeyFit 30 has a small canopy with no peekaboo window, but the Magic offers an expandable mesh window that extends the canopy and lets you see in to check on baby. The infant insert is reversible: one side is breathable mesh and the other is warmer for chillier days. It also comes with a footmuff that velcros around the bottom of the seat to keep baby extra warm. The entire cover can be removed to be machine washed, or spot cleaned.

An extra car seat base is also available for easy transport in multiple vehicles.

Stroller Compatibility

To attach the car seat to a stroller, the KeyFit 30 Magic is compatible with most Chicco strollers and other popular strollers, including the list below (this list isn’t exhaustive, but includes strollers featured in the Babylist store). Non-Chicco strollers require an adapter to fit the KeyFit 30 Magic.
