Description
The B-Safe 35 Elite is the premium car seat made by Britax who’re known for their really safe and easy to install car seats.
The SafeCenter LATCH makes installation really straightforward. (LATCH, Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children, are in all cars made since 2002. They are located between the cushions in your backseat.) You clip the car seat into your car’s anchors and tighten from the middle of the base, rather than on the side. Also the level indicator makes it really clear when your baby is at a safe angle.
Like all car seats on the market, the B-Safe 35 Elite meets the safety specifications from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It features the brand’s exclusive SafeCell Impact Protection which includes:
- A steel frame
- Impact-absorbing base
- Deep shell lined with energy-absorbing foam for side-impact protection
The Elite model has a few features that set it apart from the standard B-Safe 35:
- Additional layer of side-impact protection
- Quick-adjust headrest that makes it easier to adjust the shoulder straps to the safe height as your baby grows
- No rethread hardness that makes it easier to remove the cover when it gets dirty
The safety features make for a heavier than average car seat at 11.5 lbs. Also the car seat is hard to install without the base. Getting it level is tricky, and you may have to use towels or cut-off pool noodles to make for a safe ride. This isn’t the best option if you’re often going to use the car seat in taxis or friends’ cars.
The car seat also features four harness heights with an easy adjust handle and has a removable body pad to keep infants positioned safely. When the car seat gets dirty (which will happen), it can be hand-washed with cold water and mild soap then left flat to dry.
To attach to a stroller, this infant seat is compatible with all Britax strollers (without an additional adapter). An extra car seat base (to install the B-Safe 35 Elite in multiple cars) is also available.
